Outdoor Speaker Selection And Placement

Outdoor Speaker Selection And Placement

Submitted by: Jason Hersh

Outdoor speakers can add a whole new level of enjoyment to your sound system. There s nothing quite like being able to listen to your favorite music when you are outside relaxing on the patio, in the pool, or working in the yard. Choosing the right outdoor speakers and positioning them in the best locations is key to creating an optimal listening experience outside your home.

Most likely your outdoor area is an open space, meaning there s background noise to overcome, and you have to consider the elements. These factors create a unique challenge, but fortunately these obstacles are all manageable with a little information.

First, you will want to assess the space you re working in to determine how many speakers you need. You don t want to have to blast the volume, potentially annoying guests in one area of your yard, just so those splashing in the pool can hear the music. You will be better off adding more speakers so you don t have to compensate for distance with volume.

When determining how many speakers you need, you will want to evaluate the placement of each speaker. Under an eave or close to the wall of your house or garage is ideal as it can help protect the speaker from the weather and also help push the sound outward. If you are working with a square space, you will probably want four speakers. If you are working with an oblong space, you may want four or more depending on how large the area is.

Aesthetics is also a factor as you determine placement. It may be that you just can t get around placing a speaker out in the open, in which case you may want to consider a model with a cabinet made to look like stone or a planter. Also, mounting speakers directly onto aluminum or cedar siding generally doesn t work well as these surfaces may not be strong enough. If you have either of these materials on the outside of your house and there are no eaves or a porch roof, you may need to consider using speakers that can sit on the ground.

In any case, you will want to choose speakers that are made to withstand the elements. How exposed your speakers are to the elements will inform how weather resistant they need to be. The level of exposure will also influence the way you mount or position the speaker; if it s highly exposed, you will want to be able to tilt the speaker down for drainage.

You can create the best sound by mounting your speakers about 8-10 feet off the ground, about 12 feet from your listening area, and 8-10 feet apart from one another. Alternating right and left channels will help create the best stereo imaging, If possible, find a way to temporarily mount your speakers in their positions and test the sound with a variety of music while moving around the different areas of your outdoor space before permanently installing your outdoor speakers. You may find that moving a speaker six inches up or down can make a big difference.

A common complaint about outdoor sound systems is that the music sounds flat or diluted. To combat this effect, which is caused by the open-nature of outdoor spaces, look for outdoor speakers that have a good low-frequency response of about 60Hz or below. You may also want to consider adding a subwoofer to warm up and round out the sound.

Once you ve determined the placement of your speakers and subwoofer, you will need to decide how to run your speaker wire. There are two simple rules to follow here: 1) the less speaker wire outside your house, the better; and 2) don t run your wire through door or window jambs. Both of these rules work to ensure a long life for your outdoor speakers and minimal maintenance, as exposed speaker wire and the potential kinking and crimping that can happen will damage your wire and impact the sound quality as a result.

If you are using rock or planter-style outdoor speakers, you may want to consider coiling a few feet of extra wire in a protected location inside or under the unit in case you need to move it in the future.

What type of wire you use will depend on where you are mounting your outdoor speakers. There are specific types of wire for burial and for in-wall installation, so be sure to identify how much of each type you may need, and then add 10-15% or so to allow for any unforeseen complications.

You will also want to take note of what type of speaker cable connectors your outdoor speakers use, such as binding posts that accept spade connectors, pins or banana plugs. These are generally recommended over bare wire connections for outdoor speaker installation.

Finally, you may want to consider adding separate volume controls for your various pairs of outdoor speakers. This allows you to control the volume in a specific area without having to adjust the volume for your entire outdoor space, and without having to run inside each time you need to turn the volume up or down. Be sure to use volume controls made specifically for outdoor use in order to preserve the life and quality of the device.

US unemployment rate reaches 9.4 percent

Friday, June 5, 2009

Data from the United States Labor Department says that the unemployment rate in the U.S. has reached its highest level in over 25 years, namely 9.4%.

The job loss rate, however, was only 345,000, which is the lowest monthly job loss rate since September of last year. Analysts had predicted that the loss could be as high as 525,000.

The news suggests that the US economy may be improving, as the job loss rate, which peaked at 741,000 jobs this January, has started to ease.

“Even as we see things start to stabilize and hopefully grow again, we do know that unemployment tends to lag, and so that the unemployment rate is going to be high and probably stay high for a while, precisely because that is sort of the normal pattern as we come out of recession,” said an economic adviser for the White House, Christina Romer.

Since the recession officially started in December 2007, the economy has shed over six million jobs, with 14.5 million residents now unemployed.

U.S. Senators call for Idaho Senator Larry Craig to resign

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, Republican Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota, and Republican Representative Peter Hoekstra of Michigan are all calling for the resignation of Republican Senator Larry Craig of Idaho.

Senator McCain said, “My opinion is that when you plead guilty to a crime, you shouldn’t serve. That’s not a moral stand. That’s not a holier-than-thou. It’s just a factual situation.” And Senator Coleman said, “Senator Craig pled guilty to a crime involving conduct unbecoming a senator. He should resign.”

Craig has agreed to a temporary leadership reassignment according to a statement from the Senate’s Republican Leadership saying, “Senator Larry Craig has agreed to comply with Leadership’s request that he temporarily step down as the top Republican on the Veteran Affairs Committee, Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, and Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests. This is not a decision we take lightly but we believe this is in the best interest of the Senate until this situation is resolved by the Ethics Committee.”

Craig plead guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct after allegedly trying to initiate in a sexual experience with a male undercover law enforcement officer in a Minneapolis airport.

Meanwhile, Craig said, “I did nothing wrong.” Craig also said he plead guilty to a lesser charge in an effort to keep his arrest as quiet as possible. Craig said, “While I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct at the Minneapolis airport or anywhere else, I chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge in hopes of making it go away…It’s clear, though, that through my actions I have brought a cloud over Idaho. For that, I ask the people of Idaho for their forgiveness… I am not gay. I never have been gay”

Craig, 62, is in the middle of his third term and is seeking re-election next year.

In Life Review, A Third Party Perspective Of A Truely Unique Company

In Life Review, A Third Party Perspective Of A Truely Unique Company

Submitted by: Scott W Zlateff

I have been tossing around whether to write a review on InLife or not and after thinking about it for a week I decided I couldn’t resist. So if you are looking at InLife to find out if it’s a good company or not, you’ve come to the right review. In this article is a complete review of InLife from a third-party. I am not associated in any way with inLife and my goal is to supply you with enough information to make a good evaluation for yourself.

I have been in the network marketing industry for more than 9 years and I’ve seen a lot of different companies come and go in my time. Is InLife a company that is destined for long-term success? After reading this article, that question may be answered.

InLife was launched in 2007 and was founded by Craig Youngblood, Simon Lu, Steve Youngblood, Gino Ferrare and David Allen Baker. These gentlemen have a combined experience and knowledge ranging from the creation of the sheer cover infomercials to owning a booking/talent agency. They all are entrepreneurs to the end and appear to be triumphant in every venture they attempt individually. Now they have teamed up to bring inLife to life.

What really captured my awareness with this company is the distinctiveness of the product line. Let me explain, while a majority of other companies in the industry are involved in the health niche, InLife takes a unique route. Instead of competing with the rest of the companies in the health craze with juices and nutrition that compel you to make changes in your life, they are essentially tapping into human nature by providing safer alternatives to what is considered to be a habit by most people in America. Let’s face it, we all have our vices and some are worse than others.

inLife has five products in their lineup: InForce , inHance , Alternative Smoking Device, Journey Coffee with Acai and Gogi, and InFocus .

For starters, let’s take the big one which is coffee. Most people are aware that coffee is not exactly the best for you, yet when you start drinking it, it can become a habit that is difficult to break. You wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is load up the coffee pot for your morning fix of some wake up juice. With inLife’s Journey Coffee, comes gourmet quality coffee with health benefits. It is suppose to provide for the body’s antioxidant needs to help fight against free radicals. It’s also rich with both Acai and Goji berries, which if you’ve heard the buzz about those, you’ll know they are two of the world “super foods”.

The next product in the lineup is inLife E-Cig. Even though smoking is looked on as almost socially unacceptable currently, most smokers can’t seem to shake the habbit. I personally know many people who have tried to quit making a New Years resolution to stop smoking. Only to wind up going back to the serious habit with disappointment in themselves for not seeing it through. With InLife’s E-Cig, a person doesn’t have to quit smoking they can just switch to this alternative smoking device that allows them to keep doing what they’re use to. I have even heard that some people abandon the habit all together. If they resolve to keep the habit they can get there nicotine fix without the hundreds of chemical additives.

Then of course how can we overlook inHance . This will be especially popular for the older age group who still want to get a little rowdy occasionally. You have seen all the commercials when the men are chatting about a type of disfunction they’re experiencing. The all natural supplement is suppose to supercharge a man’s engine within 45 minutes.

And finally, InForce , which helps support the body’s immune system with Coriolus Versicolor Mushrooms, which have gone through studies and clinical trials. As well as the inFocus energy drink to help with nicotine cravings throughout the day.

This is why I find inLife so interesting. The founders realize that human beings are creatures of habit. Most of the habits we have are troublesome for us. Unfortunately, even if some of these habits are harmful, some individuals in truth enjoy the one’s they have developed. So inLife’s idea is you ultimately don’t have to quit just switch it with a safer alternative.

With these products and the leadership, people who decide to join inLife could have success once word really gets out. Personally I have not tried any of the products so I can’t speak for the actual effectiveness or taste. However I have seen related type products around and the users seem happy with the outcomes.

So if you’re going to hang on to your routine, why not get paid for it. Right?

The inLife compensation plan features six ways to earn from retail sales to matching bonuses. With this binary plan you can earn immediate income from bonuses plus residual income for long term sustainability.

In conclusion, inLife has all the correct components in a specific niche market that could be very profitable. But the important question is should you align yourself with them and help other people alter their habit to a safer substitute and earn additional income? That of course is up for you to decide.

About the Author: inLife has aspects that really stand out for a good opportunity. However to be successful with inLife you have to know how to market. To catapult your inLife business from the start, sponsor 20-50 people in a month and all coming to YOU instead of your competition visit

Edmund White on writing, incest, life and Larry Kramer

Thursday, November 8, 2007

What you are about to read is an American life as lived by renowned author Edmund White. His life has been a crossroads, the fulcrum of high-brow Classicism and low-brow Brett Easton Ellisism. It is not for the faint. He has been the toast of the literary elite in New York, London and Paris, befriending artistic luminaries such as Salman Rushdie and Sir Ian McKellen while writing about a family where he was jealous his sister was having sex with his father as he fought off his mother’s amorous pursuit.

The fact is, Edmund White exists. His life exists. To the casual reader, they may find it disquieting that someone like his father existed in 1950’s America and that White’s work is the progeny of his intimate effort to understand his own experience.

Wikinews reporter David Shankbone understood that an interview with Edmund White, who is professor of creative writing at Princeton University, who wrote the seminal biography of Jean Genet, and who no longer can keep track of how many sex partners he has encountered, meant nothing would be off limits. Nothing was. Late in the interview they were joined by his partner Michael Caroll, who discussed White’s enduring feud with influential writer and activist Larry Kramer.

Australian PM announces $1.8 billion mental health plan

Wednesday, April 5, 2006

Australian Prime Minister John Howard has announced a five year plan costing AU$1.8 billion to address issues with the country’s mental health system. The plan follows a commitment made at the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting in February.

The federal government will improve access to clinical and health services, increase the number of mental health professionals in Australia, create mental health work teams consisting of GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists and mental health nurses, provide respite services for people suffering mental illness and their carers, and introduce new programs for community awareness.

Mr Howard said the plan addresses issues which fall into its area of responsibility. He hopes that the states and territories will complement the federal government’s package by investing in supported accommodation, hospital and emergency services, crisis care services and the provision of mental health care in gaols.

Under the federal government’s plan, psychologists will play a greater role in the mental health system. From November, Patients will be able to claim a rebate from Medicare (Australia’s universal healthcare scheme) for the services of psychologists if they have been referred by a GP or psychiatrist. At present patients pay around $100 for a standard 30 minute consultation.

Mr Howard claims that there is an issue for mental health professionals in treating patients with a substance abuse problem and mental illness. To address this the government will provide extra funding for drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.

The government will increase the mental health workforce by funding an additional 400 mental health nursing and 200 clinical psychology places. 900 personal helpers and mentors will also be employed.

The government has promised increase funding for telephone counselling and suicide prevention services, living skills programs and additional support for those with a mental illness who are having difficulty finding or keeping work.

The government will also provide 900 personal helpers and mentors, increase funding for living skills programs and provide additional employment assistance to those who have difficulty finding or retaining employment due to their illness.

Tips For Choosing The Right Vacuum Trailers For The Job

Tips For Choosing The Right Vacuum Trailers For The Job

byadmin

There are many different types and styles of vacuum trailers on the market. There are those designed for septic pumping services and those which are specially designed to be used in the oil field or in municipal and urban environments. Anywhere there is the need to pump material into or out of a system there will be a need for this specialized type of equipment.

Construction

Typically most vacuum trailers or vacuum tanks on trucks are designed and constructed with stainless steel or carbon steel. Both are very durable, strong and resistant to corrosion and damage even in extreme use conditions. This can include hauling both waste materials, as with a septic pumping service, to cleaning out lagoons, car wash holding tanks, and even bulk used oil tanks.

Generally stainless steel vacuum trailers are used for oilfield and industrial applications. This is because of the corrosion resistance offered by the stainless steel ensures full compliance with all required regulations. For other uses, including transport of waste materials, carbon steel may be an appropriate material.

What to Consider

As the name implies, vacuum trailers and vacuum trucks work by creating a change in pressure, a vacuum, within the tank to draw liquid, slurry or waste materials into the tank. There are also an increasing number of applications for vacuum trucks and trailers to pull up solids, which are often seen in construction and new urban site development projects.

The size of the pump, and the amount of vacuum created, will determine the distance from the truck and the volume of material which will be drawn into the tank. The size of the tank and the amount of vacuum created should be considered when choosing a particular design and model.

Determining the size of the truck and the associated vacuum trailers is really a function of the type of use. For a septic cleaning system a small-sized truck mounted tank may be all required. In oilfield work or for larger industrial waste removal vacuum trailers with larger storage capacity are the ideal choice.

Investing in vacuum trailers for either a local business or for a large oilfield company has its benefits over subcontracting services. Choosing to work with a top manufacturing company with years of experience in designing and building top vacuum trailer styles for general and specialty uses is always the best option.

Another grenade attack in Thailand injures eight

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Early this morning, a grenade attack on People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters at Thailand’s Government House injured eight, two seriously.

This is the second attack this week, following an earlier grenade attack on Thursday which killed one and injured between 20 and 29. The earlier attack prompted planning for a rally and march on parliament tomorrow where the PAD aims to try and topple the current People’s Power Party (PPP) government.

According to Thailand’s English-language paper, The Nation, doctors have stated that one of those injured in the blast is brain dead. Anupong Samerphak, one of the PAD security staff, was hit in the body and neck by shrapnel from the grenade and remains on a respirator.

Further details of The Nation’s report state that eyewitnesses claim two teenagers made use of a grenade launcher to carry out the attack before making their escape on a motorcycle. In addition to the eight casualties, two pick-up trucks, a car, and a motorcycle were damaged; the blast left a crater near the Fifth gate of the Government House compound.

The anti-government PAD protesters have now been occupying the Government House compound for over three months, demanding the dissolution of the government of Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat. They assert that the PPP is acting on behalf of deposed former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, whose populist Thai Rak Thai (lit. Thais love Thais) government was overthrown by a military coup in 2006 and later outlawed. Both Somchai and his predecessor in the post of PM, Samak Sundaravej, have faced fierce criticism from the yellow-shirted protest movement. Samak was forced out of office in September, with Somchai, Thaksin’s brother-in-law, acting as caretaker until officially assuming the office later in September.

The embattled current PM, Somchai, expressed fears to journalists over the planned PAD protest for tomorrow and Monday. Speaking in Peru, where he is attending an APEC summit, he highlighted the possibility of the demonstrations impeding the passage of 24 new laws related to the country’s involvement in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Delegations from other nations attending the APEC summit have expressed surprise that Thailand has not taken action to dislodge the protesters from Government House.

Fears grow about U.S. dollar stability

Thursday, September 20, 2007

The U.S. economy and its currency as an instrument of world trade has suffered a series of major setbacks in recent months. Some analysts say that the Federal Reserve‘s September 18th dramatic rate cut to 4.75% from 5.25% may be a case of “too little, too late”, or that it was excessive and dooms the dollar.

Today, Saudi officials declined to cut interest rates in lockstep with the US Federal Reserve for the first time in decades. According to Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor for The Daily Telegraph, “it’s a signal that the oil-rich Gulf kingdom is preparing to break the dollar currency peg in a move that risks setting off a stampede out of the dollar across the Middle East.”

Hans Redeker, the Currency Chief at BNP Paribas, also stated today that Saudi Arabia’s move to not adjust their own interest rates in sync with the Fed’s cuts is a very dangerous situation for the US dollar. Redeker points out that “Saudi Arabia has $800bn (£400bn) in their future generation fund, and the entire region has $3,500bn under management. They face an inflationary threat and do not want to import an interest rate policy set for the recessionary conditions in the United States.”

Saudi central bank officials said that “appropriate measures” would be taken to stop the large capital inflows into the country. The Federal Reserve’s half-point rate cut has already caused a plunge in the world dollar index to a fifteen-year low, reaching the weakest level ever against the Euro at just under $1.40.

The Fed hopes that by making it cheaper to borrow, people will start spending and investing more. However, some analysts fear the cut will worsen inflation, making it harder to get personal loans, and further decrease confidence in the dollar around the world. There are already signs that global investors have started rejecting U.S. Treasury securities, and recent U.S. government data on foreign holdings show a decline in purchases of US securities from $97bn to just $19bn in July.

In response to Ben Bernanke‘s statements today about a potential mortgage and housing market crisis, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer said, “If adjustable mortgage rates go up, people may not be able to afford their mortgage payments.” Former Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan said earlier this week that housing prices may fall by “double digits” as the subprime crisis bites harder, prompting households to cut back sharply on spending.

Jim Rogers, the economic commentator and former partner of George Soros, stated, “If Ben Bernanke starts running those printing presses even faster than he’s already doing, we are going to have a serious recession. The dollar’s going to collapse, the bond market’s going to collapse. There’s going to be a lot of problems.”

In recent months, the U.S. dollar has taken several other significant hits including Kuwait’s decision in May to also break its dollar peg, and threats by China to interfere with the U.S. economy, calling it their nation’s “nuclear option”. According to public sources, the Chinese government has begun a concerted campaign of economic threats against the United States, hinting that it may liquidate its vast holding of US treasuries if Washington imposes trade sanctions that seek to force a Yuan revaluation.
