The Most Foolish Idea Ever Surgery To Increase Your Height!

The Most Foolish Idea Ever – Surgery To Increase Your Height!

by

Sean Saunders

Being tall in stature is something which is considered as a desirable attribute and those that are short are eager to try anything just to add a few inches to their height. There are a number of ways that people could use to get taller. Natural holistic measures such as good nutrition, proper restful sleep, breathing the right way and doing regular stretching physical exercises are the best for increasing height.

If you are one amongst many short people that wants to get taller you might have been thinking about surgery to make you taller. Though surgical operation is one option for increasing height, this process is least recommended. The reason for this is that this type of surgery is incredibly expensive and necessitates you to spend a long period in medical facilities for the operation and then for an extended recovery time. This sort of surgery is considered as an elective procedure and therefore most insurance companies do not cover it under health care insurance plans. This type of surgery is so painful that medical facilities performing it necessitate that you undergo a psychological assessment to see if you are capable of dealing with the pain and the long recovery time. Though surgery to make you taller should help by adding a couple of inches, the mental stress, extreme pain and the expenses that come with it often discourages a person from choosing it. Distraction osteogenesis is the medical term that is used for the surgery to make you taller. This form of surgery is used to elongate the long bones of the body. Here a gap is created between the bones by fracturing it into two pieces with the intention that new bone formation takes places in the gap. Distraction osteogenesis surgery is extremely painful and often leads to numerous types of complications such as infections. It also causes large scars. Surgery to make you taller could run $20,000 or more and that doesn’t take account of the lengthy recovery period that is necessary. Almost all competent doctors try to talk people out of having cosmetic bone lengthening surgery with a purpose to get taller for many good reasons. Doctors do not want to see somebody confined to wheelchair and moving around in crutches for several months just for the sake of cosmetic enhancement and the very idea of breaking a perfect healthy bone itself is dispiriting for them. Doctors are hesitant to allow people to voluntarily subject themselves to discomfort and pain and to undergo the financial expenditures of a purely cosmetic procedure. Then they do not support the idea of letting people risk their life due to complications such as nerve damage and embolism just for the sake of cosmetic reasons. Most hospitals that carry out this procedure insist on a psychological assessment of the potential patient to ensure the procedure is necessary to their psychological health. Surgery to make you taller is a cosmetic procedure that may be painful, expensive and takes a very long time to recover from. Do yourself a favor and increase your height by employing holistic methods which are safe and natural.

Burglars steal Milan Lu?i?’s Memorial Cup ring from his Vancouver home

Friday, July 11, 2008

Yesterday, Milan Lu?i?‘s family returned home and found their home ransacked by burglars. It was discovered that the young NHL star’s prized Memorial Cup ring and several valuable tournament watches were stolen from their home in Vancouver, Canada .

Lu?i?’s mother, Snežana, has said that the thieves gained entrance to the family’s home by smashing in the back door.

Lu?i?, 20, who lives with his parents, Dobrivoje and Snežana, is a player for the Boston Bruins and flew to Boston on Wednesday to help out at a rookies camp.

“We don’t know if it was random,” she said. “They went into his room upstairs and took his Memorial Cup ring and three of his Esquire watches.”

Other rooms in the home were ransacked and alcohol was stolen.

“He was very disappointed,” said Snežana, referring to Lu?i?’s reaction when she called her son in Boston shortly after the robbery.

Before Lu?i? flew to Boston. he told Snežana before flying to Boston he was thinking about his memorabilia and recalled how, last summer, former goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, Bill Ranford, was robbed of memorabilia from his New Westminster home.

“So in a way he wasn’t surprised,” Snežana said.

Lu?i? was raised in East Vancouver. He carried the Vancouver Giants to a Memorial Cup victory in 2007. He was awarded as the Most Valuable Player and led the Giants in scoring for the 2006-07 season.

Lu?i? accumulated 27 points and 89 penalty minutes in his play for with the Boston Bruins last season.

According to Snežana the NHL has been advised of the burglary and intends to monitor websites like Craigslist and eBay to see if someone attempts to sell the distinctive ring.

The Vancouver Police Department‘s investigation is ongoing.

India records 14 millionth case of COVID-19 amid new surge in infections

Sunday, April 18, 2021

According to multiple reports, India recorded its 14 millionth case of COVID-19 and new infections of over 200 thousand on Thursday, causing multiple hospitals running on full capacity.

The 200739 new infections is twice what was seen during its last peak in September, rising after the superspreading events such as political rallies in local and state elections and religious events, official complacency and highly infectious new variants of the virus. According to Reuters, the government blamed wilful disregard of social distancing measures and face mask mandates. A Railway Protection Force officer told The Telegraph (Kolkata) “[t]he number of unmasked passengers was much more last month. The renewed surge in Covid numbers has triggered some caution but many are still without masks.”

According to CNBC, India overtook Brazil as the second-most infected country on April 12, though still behind the United States. The new strain has forced hospitals into drastic measures, including two or three patients sharing a bed at Lok Nayak Hospital and converting over a dozen hotels and banquet halls in New Delhi into COVID-19 treatment centres. The states Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat among others have reported a shortage of oxygen; India Today reported on the Ahmedabad Medical Association pleading the state government for oxygen, writing to Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani “[i]f such conditions persist, the death toll will rise, violence against doctors will increase and doctors will be forced to shut down their hospitals due to lack of oxygen supply”.

Nationally, the government has shifted its focus from vaccine exporting to domestic production, entering 114 million jabs in peoples’ arms — the third-most, behind the US and China — and three million on Wednesday after recently approving for emergency use its third vaccine: Russia-developed Sputnik V. The government maintains there is not an oxygen shortage and that the primary issue with distributing inoculations to states is over-planning, not a supply shortage.

New Delhi announced stay-at-home orders and shuttered restaurants, malls, gyms and spas, with an exception for movie theatres at limited times and at limited capacity. Mumbai went further Wednesday, closing most industries, businesses and public places and restricting movement of people amidst a surge of labourers to the city. In addition to many cities and towns, the epicentral city of Maharashtra imposed a curfew, with only essential services open between 8pm and 7am. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams have been cancelled, and Class 12 exams postponed.

There has also been 1038 new deaths, adding to the total death count of over 173 thousand and putting a strain on local cremation centres and burial grounds. It remains fourth in its death count after the US, Brazil and Mexico.

Avian Flu is confirmed in Egypt

Saturday, February 18, 2006

Yesterday February 17, 2006, the World Health Organisation officially declared presence of the H5N1 strain of the avian flu virus in Egypt.

“There is avian flu now in Egypt,” Hassan el Bushra, regional adviser for emerging diseases at the eastern Mediterranean regional office of the WHO said. His response was to the reported presence of H5N1 virus in dead birds in three areas in Egypt – namely Cairo, Giza, and Al-Minya.

Today February 18, 2006, a responsible source from Egyptian ministry of health announced reporting of another 25 cases of infected birds in Al-Minya with aftermath of 35 confirmed cases between birds, yet there are no human cases reported.

Egypt has banned the import of live birds and has tightened quarantine controls at airports to keep out bird flu. It has also canceled the annual bird hunting season to minimize contacts between people and migrant birds. In Cairo phone numbers 3912136, 3907147, and the hotline 152 have been assigned for reporting any suspected cases. A newly formed unit formed of veterinarians and preventive medicine specialists in Giza actively studying more than 70 reports of dead birds for exclusion of H5N1.

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Naxif has advised people who breed poultry at their homes to dispose of their birds to prevent the virus from spreading.

“The time has come to get rid of the idea of breeding chickens on the roofs of houses, especially under current circumstances,” he said.

Many Egyptian citizens breed chickens and pigeons on the roof of their residences for their own consumption and as a source of extra income.

Despite avian flu mainly being a disease of poultry, it has also infected 171 people, killing 93 of them, and is steadily mutating. If it acquires the ability to pass easily from person to person it could cause a pandemic that might kill millions.

Successful Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment For Hyperhidrosis

Successful Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment For Hyperhidrosis

Successful Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Hyperhidrosis By Abdulmubeen Mundewadi

Hyperhidrosis refers to excessive perspiration especially from the palms, soles, and armpits. Some individuals have excessive sweating on the head and forehead. Though this medical condition is benign, it can cause social embarrassment, depression, and long-term disability in performing some professional work like writing or handling papers and documents. Hormonal disorders, diabetes, obesity, and stress can aggravate this condition. High temperatures can aggravate sweating; however, paradoxically, many people with hyperhidrosis report an aggravation in the winter season.

The modern treatment of hyperhidrosis consists of the local use of antiperspirants, oral anticholinergic medicines, iontophoresis (passing a mild current across the hands), injection of botulinum toxin, surgical denervation of affected areas, radiofrequency ablation, surgical removal of affected parts, and subcutaneous liposuction. The major concerns with these treatments are limited improvement; repeated sittings for treatment; considerable treatment cost; serious or troublesome side effects, and recurrence of symptoms.

Excessive sweating is believed to be due to an overactive sympathetic and parasympathetic (both collectively known as the autonomic) nervous system. In Ayurvedic pathophysiology, it is believed that a dysfunction of the ‘Meda’ (fat) tissue is responsible for this condition. Sweat is believed to be a waste product of the Meda tissue. Faulty Meda metabolism results in the quality of the tissue becoming compromised; this causes excessive production of waste material, thereby causing excessive sweating.

The primary treatment of hyperhidrosis, therefore, is to normalize the Meda metabolism. Medicines which act on the Meda tissue are given in high doses or as per the severity of hyperhidrosis. Some of these herbs can also be used to rub locally on affected body parts. Medicines which correct the overactive autonomic nervous system can also be used effectively to treat this condition. It is also beneficial to treat stress, obesity, diabetes mellitus and other conditions directly or indirectly aggravating sweating. Hyperthyroidism is a hormonal disorder where excessive sweating may be a symptom of the condition; treating the primary disorder will automatically reduce or cure, all related symptoms including hyperhidrosis.

It is important to note that complete cessation of sweating is not desirable, since sweating regulates body temperature, maintains fluid balance, and keeps the skin and sweat pores soft. Depending upon the severity of the condition and the response of individuals to treatment, affected patients may require Ayurvedic treatment for periods ranging from three to six months, or sometimes more. Once the symptoms have subsided significantly, the patient can then be treated with reduced doses of previously used medicines or other Ayurvedic medicines to prevent a relapse of the condition.

As discussed above, modern treatment has limited benefit, requires multiple sittings, and can have serious side effects. On the contrary, Ayurvedic treatment is safe for long-term use, and significant relief can be obtained on a very long-term basis. In addition to reduction of excessive sweating, most individuals who take Ayurvedic treatment for this condition also report feelings of improved relaxation, increased confidence, and better control while handling stressful situations. These benefits, along with reduced sweating, are reported several months to even several years after stopping treatment. Ayurvedic treatment therefore appears to be a better treatment modality in the management of hyperhidrosis.

Evidence of natural gas deposit found off Gaza Coast

Friday, February 28, 2014

In statements to the press on Monday and Tuesday, Dr. Salem Salama, a member of the Hamas Palestinian Legislative Council’s economic committee, said signs of a natural gas deposit were found off the coast of the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Salama said the gas field had been found by Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip, who noticed bubbling in the water which they first assumed was from fish or plants moving underwater. He added, samples from the site had been taken by navy personnel to the Islamic University, where they were verified. In a statement to AFP he said “preliminary tests carried out by experts from the Islamic University suggest that there is a natural gas field near the coast”.

In an interview to the Gazan radio station Sout Al-Aqsa, Salama said the gas deposit lies only 200 to 300 meters from the central coast of the Gaza Strip, which would “facilitate the work of any company that might invest in this field. The return will be great for the Gaza Strip, in economic terms”.

Deputy Hamas Prime Minister Mr. Ziad Al-Zaza calmed down the excitement regarding the issue in a comment to AFP. “[W]e need to conduct further studies to confirm that there is any gas”, he said. “This requires probing by specialist companies because we don’t have the adequate laboratories and experts here”.

The Gaza Strip, which has been governed by Hamas since 2007, is now experiencing the most severe energy crisis in its history. Following the lack of fuels, the residents of the Gaza Strip sometimes need to manage with only 12 hours of electricity a day. This evidence of natural gas fields may offer a resolution to the crisis.
